Olympus Stylus 770 SW Review at PhotoReview

Olympus Stylus 770 SWPhotoReview has reviewed the 7.1 megapixel Olympus Stylus 770 SW (Mju 700 SW) and writes, “Outdoor pictures taken with the test camera were bright and contrasty but indoor shots showed a much better dynamic range, reflecting the camera’s underwater capabilities. Imatest showed reproduction of most hues was accurate, except for slight shifts in orange and red. Saturation was relatively low for a digicam. Resolution was slightly below expectations for a 7-megapixel camera and Imatest showed a severe decline at ISO settings over 800.”

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W55 Review at DPExpert

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W55DPExpert has reviewed the 7.2 megapixel Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W55 and writes, “This is a good compact camera that we enjoyed using. Up to ISO 200 it produces fine images. It has selectable aspect ratios and it can take pictures in the right ratio and pixel dimension for widescreen high definition televisions, (16:9 and 1920×1080 pixels) but be warned, what is good for the telly is not necessarily good for printing. Even a high definition TV is a relatively low resolution device.”

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W55 Features Include:

  • Eye-level viewfinder
  • 2.5″ LCD
  • metal body
  • Carl Zeiss® Vario-Tessar lens

Fujifilm FinePix S9100 Review at Imaging Resource

Imaging Resource has a review of the Fujifilm FinePix S9100 and writes, “Image quality was a mixed bag, unfortunately. Most of the shots I took were a pleasure to review both on the LCD, and later on the computer. But the S9100 has a tendency to lose highlight detail in shots taken in full sunlight. If you’re shooting in full sun, use Exposure Compensation to protect your highlights. Turn on the live histogram display to see what’s going on. But…

Panasonic DMC-TZ3 Review at DigitalCameraReview

Panasonic DMC-TZ3DigitalCameraReview has reviewed the 6.0 megapixel Panasonic DMC-TZ3 and writes, “The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3 is a welcome improvement from its predecessor, the TZ1. The 10x optical zoom lens provides excellent performance in a compact 7.2 megapixel digital camera. The 3 inch LCD provides a nice big screen for previewing and reviewing your images. Good image quality, good battery performance, and quick operation make this camera a good choice for someone looking for an ultra-zoom camera that doesn’t need manual exposure modes like shutter priority, aperture priority and so on.”

Panasonic DMC-TZ2 Features Include:

  • 10x optical zoom
  • LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR lens
  • Optical Image Stabilization
  • 20 scene modes
  • 3.0-inch LCD
  • Stainless Steel body

Everything is falling apart

The Plume

Well, it seems that way lately. After my last gallery show, it's been hard to get out and take new pictures. I have like 12 rolls in the drawer waiting to be developed. I don't know if it's the weather, the backlog, how much I've been working, or what. I just seem to have run out of steam.

Thankfully the cold has let up a bit, and I'm sure that when we see green and warm temps I'll get back in the groove. This is all an apology for not updating in a while, both here and on Flickr. Anyway...

News
Castle Photo, an old-school camera store in Frandor in Lansing, is hiring part-time help. I'd take the job myself but they want someone to work Tuesdays, Thursdays, and every other Saturday. Weekdays I can do, but not the weekend. If you're interested, go apply in person. You won't get paid much, but you get a good discount and you're around cameras all day.
