Ricoh Caplio R6 Review at ThinkCamera

Ricoh Caplio R6ThinkCamera has reviewed the the 7.24 megapixel Ricoh Caplio R6 digital camera and they write, “Overall, Ricoh’s Caplio R6 is very impressive. Ricoh have made some very good choices in how it operates, so it can be full-auto when required, or it can give the photographer control when they want it. This level of control is backed up by an impressive feature set that by and large is well implemented - face detection aside. All this, and it’s responsive and easy on battery life as well.

There are very few problems to report, though it’s a shame the colour fringing is so severe. Also, the LCD flare in bright conditions works against the camera, making it hard to use at times. I’d also like the exposure to be a little better, though it’s quick enough to set some compensation for this so you can work round it.

In all, Ricoh have squeezed a lot into a very small package. Credit must go to them for making a camera that performs so well and does so much. Slip an R6 in your pocket and you’ll be ready for all occasions.”

Ricoh Caplio R6 Features Include:

  • 7.1x zoom
  • CCD-shift vibration correction
  • 2.7-inch LCD
  • Face-detection technology

PANASONIC AG-HVX200 DVCPRO HD Camcorder Review

Panasonic HVX200’s HD format is called DVCPRO-HD. The difference between DVCPRO-HD and HDV is about 4 to 1 in terms of data throughput. DVCPRO-HD supports data rates of up to 100Mbps. This allows the camera to record video without applying as much compression as the HDV cameras do. Another advantage in terms of format is the support of 4:2:2 color space - again linked to the 100Mbps allowance. The DVCPRO-HD has been around for several years and has been used in the Varicam.

img_1722.JPGimg_1649.JPG

The camera uses three 1/3″ 960×540 pixel (0.5 mega-pixel) progressive scan CCD’s to capture the image. HD resolution is achieved by both horizontal and vertical spatial offset (aka. pixel shift). The green CCD in the array is physically shifted 1/2 pixel biaxially to achieve up to 50% higher horizontal and vertical resolution. This would make the theoretical maximum resolution of the image, 1440×810 pixels, even though each CCD has only 960×540 photosites. Internally the camera uses 1920×1080.

The HVX200’s resolution is recorded at 960×720 for 720P mode, and 1280×1080 for 1080i mode in 60Hz territories; in 50Hz (PAL) regions it is recorded at 1440×1080. The sensors employ variable scanning rates from 2Hz to 60Hz (NTSC version) or 50Hz (PAL version) and are always capturing progressive images. The images are always scanned from the chips at a resolution of 1920 x 1080. Those images are then downsampled to a size appropriate for the recording

How to create a Photo Movie ? Fun Gift For Mother’s Day !

Found this artilce on one of my fav blogs..LifeHacker.com

Gina Trapani, Editor - LifeHacker.com explains it step by step.
You must take a look ! Great for Mother's Day !

Here is a snap shot of the article !

You've been snapping digital photos all year long, and now you're in need of gift ideas for Mom and Dad. Sure you could get a coffee mug with the kids' faces on it or photo tee-shirt that reads "Grandma loves me." Even better: create a photo slideshow with music, titles and voice narration that the folks can pop into the DVD player and enjoy on TV.
(No kids, but gift-challenged when it comes to the other half? A photo slideshow of you and your honey played to a favorite song would make just about anyone melt. Putting together your family tree? A photo history with narration by Grandpa will be priceless to your kids' kids.)

Using free software Microsoft Photo Story 3 for Windows and an optional plugin, a multimedia gift DVD can be yours (and your loved ones) this holiday season.
What you'll need:
A Windows XP PC
Digital photos.
[optional] A microphone (for voice narration)
[optional] Background music (any MP3/WMA/WAV file will do)
[optional] A DVD burner (if you want this to be playable in the computer-less living room)
