I guess I may as well end May with a post extolling the virtues of a hazy afternoon and a box camera. Taken with a Kodak Brownie Bullseye, 100 ISO Arista .edu film, souped in Diafine.

The Canon SD 1000 Digital ELPH (IXUS 70) was announced on 22.02.07 featuring 7.1 effective million pixel, DIGIC III with Face Detection AF/AE/FE and Noise Reduction Technology, 3x optical zoom 35-105mm (35mm equivalent) with UA lens, and a 2.5” PureColor LCD Screen. The camera is measuring in at 85.9 x 53.5 x 19.4 mm, weighing 125g and running on rechargeable Lithium-ion battery.
In this neat video made sometime last year by Pentax (although I'm not sure they had anything to do with it getting on YouTube), a whole bunch of different photographers from around the world, like Henno Drecoli, describe what they like about their cameras and lenses, as photos from their portfolios play on with music. Yes, I assume they're all using Pentax equipment even though it's never stated directly, but it's a promotional video so what did you expect? There's a huge diversity in the subject matter of the photos, and it's entertaining for a YouTube clip all the same. (A commenter says it was a DVD at least a part of the K10D box's contents in parts of Europe...)
DXG USA today announced their latest digital camera called the DXG-711. The camera is billed as a next-generation, slim and sexy 7 MP digital camera. The silver body houses a seven megapixel CCD sensor and a 2.5” LTPS LCD.
Optical zoom is 3x and the camera is ready to shoot right out of the box with no need to study the manual. With 7MP and 3x zoom you might not expect the DXG-711 to be less than an inch thick.
A built-in voice recorder allows you to take notes or make lists that are recorded direct to MP3 format. Onboard memory is 32MB and Direct Printing is supported for printing without a PC. Video can be recorded at 640 x 480 at 30 fps and storage space is expandable via a SD card slot.

A reader has just let me know that recently Pentax updated their K10D page for their Japan site with 2 photos taken DA* lenses, the DA* 16-50mm and the DA* 50-135mm. I wish I’d seen these sooner, I might have gotten on the waiting list for these lenses a bit earlier. The site has all the metadata details. For example, below, you can see that the DA* 50-135mm at 1/1000 sec, F5.6 and ISO 100 is a great action lens.
