Casio Exilim EX-V7 Review at Photography Review

Photography Review tests the Casio Exilim EX-V7 and writes, “I like Casio digital cameras. I don’t think they have the best image quality but I think they more than make up for it by designing super compact, wonderfully usable digital cameras with a great feature set. This camera lives up to that with a ton of exposure options, a really powerful 7x optical zoom lens, and sensor-shift image stabilization to ensure sharp photos in all kinds of conditions. And the much-improved high ISO performance combined with image stabilization means you can take much better pictures in low light – even without the flash. Put it all together and the Casio Exilim EX-V7 is a wonderfully powerful and usable camera that you can put in your pocket and take everywhere.”

Casio Exilim EX-V7 Features Include:

  • 7.2 megapixel
  • 7X optical zoom
  • 2.5-inch LCD
  • Casio’s blur reduction CCD shift system
  • Anti Shake DSP

K10D Camera Armor Coming Soon

(Note: Updated at 1:25pm with additional info. from Camera Armor)

So, I was feeling pretty jealous about Camera Armor because it makes a camera look incredibly tough (dare I say "badass") and is good protection against small drops and knife fights (not, really), but then it's only for Canon and Nikon models (ok, and the Sony A100, too). It's made of shock absorbing silicon rubber, includes a special polycarbonate LCD shield, and you can even get matching rubber lens hoods. It's not that the K10D really needs more armor, because it is pretty rugged already, but I had a good daydream about having the K10D in camouflage armor and trekking off into the hinterland. I wanted to see that made reality. The K100D Super could definitely use the armor, though.

Last week I called the company to request that they consider a Pentax solution, too, and Made Products in Seattle shared with me some brilliant news that it's already planned and in the next month they'll be releasing armor for the K10D. It should cost about $49.95 to $59.95 U.S. and come in Black or possibly Transparent or Smoke colors.

Highlighted Comment from Graeme at Camera Armor: "We are still debating the color options for you though, and thought we should solicit some feedback. We will offer black, and could do either camo or a transparent version that would make it easy...

Samsung K3: review

Jenn K. Lee from pocketables.net has reviewed this digital audio player from Samsuung. It’s the flash-based K3. (YP-K3). It’s a very thin player.
On its own, the player is relatively capable, albeit stripped down and not without a few quirks. Although it’s reliance on touch-based controls won’t appeal to everyone, the device will still manage to turn more than a few heads . . . but unfortunately only because of its ultra-thin profile and impeccably modern design.

Wildlife photographer awarded highly prestigious RPS Gold Medal

The wildlife photographer Michael Huggan ARPS is the winner of this year’s RPS Travel Group Digital Section Gold Medal. He was presented the award at a special ceremony by Professor Jacobsen, the president of the RPS.

The judge said that his image entitled ‘The Gardians’, taken in Montagnac, Southern France stood out from the rest due to its composition, the dramatic imagery of the horses and their formation and grouping.

“One of my photographic loves is horses and for many years I photographed equestrian events from local riding clubs to polo matches,” recalls Michael. “In 2004, my wife and I travelled to the Camargue in southern France to visit friends in the village of Montagnac. By pure accident, we had arrived in time to see a local festival in the next village, which included a competition between two teams of horses and riders demonstrating their control in marshalling playful bulls. The riders are known as ‘Gardians’ which is the name I have given the winning photo.”

‘The Gardians’ can be seen on the RPS Travel Group website here: www.travelgroup.rps.org/exhibition/index.html

Michael, a Nikon user for the last 35 years, lives in Hampshire. His photographic experience covers a wide range of subjects from the natural world, lifestyle and corporate to Michael’s passion of wildlife photography for which he is most well known. His interest in wildlife photography heralds from…
