New from Moo

By now, you are certainly familiar with the Moo minicards, and have probably heard about the newly released Moo stickers… little prints of goodness made from your personal selection of your Flickr photos. They are (relatively) inexpensive for such small print runs, fun sizes, and quite nice on print quality. But, have you seen the new Moo note cards yet? Somehow, these slipped past me when they were first released. I found them a few weeks ago, and ordered a test set.

They just arrived, and I have to say, they are my favorite Moo product yet. While quite a bit more expensive than the other goodies ($24.99 for 16), these cards are great little mailable pieces for those needing to stay in touch with friends or even potential clients. Like all Moo products, each card can be of a different image. The cool thing about the note cards though is that they have quite a novel size and shape. The image itself is a small square (100mm x 100mm), with a little flap that lets them easily sit up for display. It’s the kind of thing that people look at and go, “Hey, neat!”

There’s plenty of room on the back for a little handwritten note, or you can have up to six lines pre-printed. Just like the MiniCards, you can also put all your contact info and icon at the bottom, back of each card.

I certainly won’t be ordering

Scott Kelby Came To Town…

What a week I just had!

I was reading Scott Kelby’s blog and he mentioned that he was coming to Maine for his family vacation. I dropped him an email, asked where his vacation was going to be, and you could have knocked me over with a feather when I got his reply!

Come to find out he was vacationing just a few miles from me, so I recommended a handful of places for them to eat and for him to photograph (and told him should he need a lackey to carry his camera bag and shine up his lenses, I was the guy who had his arm up high, furiously waving it back and forth) - didn’t he try every suggestion on both lists AND then called me to go shooting!

We went out last Thursday (July 19th), it poured cats and dogs but we went anyway, you can see some of his shots here. I took him to an old country mill that has a cool waterfall, we had a great time. Scott was personable, funny, and has forgotten more about photography and Photoshop than I will ever know.

On Saturday I shot a wedding, beautiful couple, handsome bridal party, and great location (take a look for yourself).

Then Sunday I shot a new model, (again, got some good stuff), and what do you know -

Take Control of Your SLR - Practice Adjusting Settings

Most cameras these days have more than enough buttons, the question becomes, are you able to adjust then all in the dark in order to get that perfect shot?

If you ask a professional photographer what the number one key to getting consistent results is they will tell you that knowing how the camera is going to react in different situations and being able to adjust settings quickly is number one on the list.

If you only pick up your camera occasionally chances are your results will be erratic. However, the more you pick it up and use it the better your results tend to be. Pack your camera with you as much as possible and shoot more pictures and the faster you will be able to react to various shooting situations.
