Take Great Landscape Photographs

Take Great Landscape Photographs
With Any Camera And A Few Basic Accessories!

"Landscape photography is at the same time one of the easiest and most difficult subjects to approach. It is easy because landscapes are so familiar and accessible - they are all around us, and by now most of the obvious scenic views are cataloged tourist attractions with established viewpoints. In addition, landscapes are pretty permanent; they don't move, and so all that is necessary is to get there with a camera. Finally, for the simplest shot, there are no extreme technical difficulties."

Better Pictures - Select a Visual Theme

In this post I would like to turn your attention to visual themes. One of the inherent problems amateur photographers face without them really noticing, is their inability to realize that shooting everything willy nilly, is cutting their shooting standard by half. Why? Because they become,‘Jack of all trades and masters of none.’ They need to stop, take stock, and consider a visual theme.

Untitled by Nocturnales

It makes perfect sense really. If you love roses, cats or carols whatever, you take time out and learn to define history, features and facts about your chosen subject. Take a person who has a special interest in cats. To most uniformed people a cat is a companion, hunts mice, purrs and is always hungry. But the cat lover knows a cat purring does mean the cat is always happy. On occasions the purr is a sign of stress, ill health or fright.

Where can I get that???

I just got an email from an old friend who's wife has a photography business. He was asking about where he could get something. I thought some of you might like to know a few of the Vendors I use. I have a lot of sources, but here's a list of some of the ones we use a lot:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com – I get a lot of my camera’s and lenses here.
http://www.adorama.com – Another place I’ve purchased camera equipment.
http://www.whcc.com – A great lab! They always do great work for us and we love them.
http://www.mpix.com – A lab company that I send a lot of my client’s to for their needs. They do awesome work!
http://www.archivalmethods.com/ - They have great Archival supplies (we use them for our boxes).
http://www.leathercraftsmen.com – Joe Buissink uses this company to bind his albums. Our clients can have the same company bind their wedding albums as Jennifer Lopez has hers bound with. Joe also uses Graphie studio.
http://www.graphistudio.com – Yervant uses this company to do his fashion forward albums.
http://www.jampaper.com/ - has great packaging supplies!
http://dennybackdrops.com/ - has great backdrops and backgrounds
http://alienbees.com/ - Want to get into studio lighting? This company has some great lights that won’t set you back too much.
http://www.profoto-usa.com/ - Want to get some serious lights? They make some of the best lights in the business.
