Does this camera still suffer from purple fringing in areas of high contrast (towards the edges of the pictures) like the R6?

Hi there, thanks for sharing this info with us. I am in the market for 40D probably sometimes next year. I think also may like the sensor cleaning feature, because I get lot of dust lately. How do you find this feature. thanks anna :)

Hello,

I'm looking to buy the Kodak Z885 and I see brand new ones on sale at ebay for the buy-it-now price of $140 including shipping. This is the cheapest I could find. Are there any better deals?

Thanks,
escapist adventurer

there's a basic dishonesty in removing negative opinions of cameras discussed here, as was done with my brief review of the S50. One must conclude that the owner of this site has some undetermined commercial interest in persuading viewers to purchase less-than-top-quality equipment.
Read everything here with that objective in mind!

This is a very interesting device.

Particular I am interested in the motion detection function for animal research.

Since the camera does not have a viewfinder the LCD is always on leading to the relatively short running time of 3 hours for the battery.

I would hope that the motion detection setting can be used when the camera is not connected to a PC or power supply and that then the LCD is switched off which could lead to 6 hours or more of running time if there is just occasional movement.

Also it is very unclear whether the camera supports SDHC cards, because with a minimum resolution of 320*240 it could store only 2 hours of video on a 2GB card, therefore I would like to use a 4 or 8GB SDHC card.

Does anyone here have information on this?

I have 4 previous Coolpixes (950, 990, 995 and 5000) and 3 D's - D100, D70 and D200, so I know what to expect. And I don't think I got it. I haven't used the oldest camera I possess - the CP950 - for a few years now, but I believe its output was sharper and better focussed that the S50 which is DOUBLE the size in MP! Noise in dark spots is bad enough to be irrepairable by plugins such as Noise Ninja, Imagenomics etc.

The S50 is very well engineered, most functions easily available. The battery life seems short.
I wanted a walk-around camera that fits in my shirt-pocket (where I won't put it, because if I bend over it will fall out) and that's what I got. But I was more satisfied with ALL of my 7 previous Nikons than I am with the S50.

Bottom line - it's a walk-around camera, but frankly I am under-whelmed.
